The Benefits of Trans Resveratrol

Trans-resveratrol is a chemical found to be beneficial for a variety of uses. Whether it be skin care, weight loss, heart health, or other health conditions—the antioxidant has been shown to provide an array of health benefits ranging from cancer prevention to heart disease protection. Commonly found in grapes, blueberries, cranberries, and peanuts—trans resveratrol is often touted as a heart-healthy chemical supplement.

Known for being a part of a group of compounds called polyphenols—trans resveratrol may be able to help protect the body against damage caused by cancer, heart disease, and more. Let’s take a closer look at trans resveratrol and what potential health benefits it may have for you.

What is Trans-Resveratrol?

More than 70 plant species have been shown to have detectable levels of trans resveratrol. Many scientists claim that these particular plants produce it as a means of protection against harmful pathogens and radiation.

As a naturally occurring compound known as a polyphenol—trans resveratrol is found in many foods ranging from grapes to Japanese knotweed extracts. The heart healthy effects of red wine are due in part thanks to trans resveratrol.

  • Prevention and treatment of cancer

As clearly displayed, trans resveratrol can provide a number of health benefits due to the active and bioavailable component of the compound. Trans resveratrol can also provide a number of other benefits in conjunction with other ingredients.

As a plant-based antioxidant that slows down cellular damage by scavenging free radicals—trans resveratrol helps protect against high blood pressure and other harmful cardiovascular risk factors.

What can Trans Resveratrol Do for You?

Trans resveratrol has been found to provide a number of health benefits for users. One 2015 study discovered that high doses of trans resveratrol may actually help to reduce the pressure on artery walls.

A meta-analysis showed that among 247 subjects—resveratrol was significantly effective in reducing systolic blood pressure (1). Another study found that resveratrol may in fact help the body produce more nitric oxide within blood vessels causing them to relax (2).

Trans resveratrol has also been shown to provide additional cardiovascular benefits including cholesterol management. During the course of a 6 month study—participants found that LDL levels had gone down by 4.5% and oxidized LDL decreased by 20% compared to participants who consumed a placebo group (3).

Studies have indicated that consuming red wine high in trans resveratrol can help protect the brain against potential cognitive decline. Trans resveratrol has been shown to provide neuroprotective properties against dementia and other related cognitive dysfunctions (4).

Trans resveratrol may also inhibit cancer cellular growth by changing gene expression (5). Among the various types of cancer that trans resveratrol may fight against include: gastric, colon, skin, breast, and prostate cancer. As you can see trans resveratrol may provide a number of benefits to users in terms of overall health and longevity.

The Future of Trans Resveratrol

Resveratrol and NMN are found to be critical for activating sirtuin genes. Resveratrol is commonly thought of as an accelerator for sirtuin activation, while NMN is the fuel used to drive the vehicle.

Sirtuin activation requires youthful NAD levels, but our natural production decreases 50% by age 50. Consuming resveratrol and NMN helps increase activation of the sirtuin genes while effectively helping to increase longevity and lifespan in humans.
